What you need
How it goes
Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast. Let it bloom 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add the oil, then mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover and rise 1 hour, until doubled.
Divide into 8 pieces and shape into smooth, tight balls.
Place on a parchment tray and rise 30–40 minutes.
Brush with egg white if you want shine.
Bake at 375 °F (190 °C) for 15–18 minutes, until golden.
Cool fully before slicing.
A couple of things
- Shaping tight is what makes them round instead of flat. Drag each ball against the counter under a cupped hand until the surface goes taut.
- Do not refrigerate them. Counter for 2–3 days in an airtight container, or freeze for 2–3 months.
Or let me make it. I already sell this one, ready Saturday morning.
